Leadership is a balancing act. There are many competing interests that need to be addressed in any situation, and there never seems to be enough money to do everything you’d like to do. This blog is (mostly) about the things I would do if I were really in charge. Granted, a Mayor is no more “in charge” than any other Councillor. As such, they can only work toward goals. Having said that, what are my goals?
Some things, I would build to address needs and solve problems. Affordable housing, flood mitigation work, Rec Centres and libraries, that sort of thing. I’ve written about these things, and will do so again.
Some things, I would build to address wants and desires. Entertainment districts, functional tourist attractions in our parks, open air markets, more amusement options, that sort of thing. I’ve written about these things, and will do so again.
But there is another category. There are things I would build Just for Fun. Like what? I’m glad you asked!
You know that stretch of the 410, right as you cross into the City of Brampton proper? Ya, this view here:
Well, I would totally let people know they had arrived in Brampton in style. Like this:
Okay, okay. Maybe not EXACTLY like the Gates of Argonath! But how cool would it be to have two towering giant statues flanking the 410 greeting visitors to the City? I’d say, it’d be pretty awesome.
You know, Just for Fun!
